Matt Fitzpatrick secured an invite to next years Masters with a sparkling final-round 67 on Sunday. Trenton Cannon Jets Jersey . With the top 12 getting an invitation to return to Augusta next year, the 21-year-old from Sheffield moved through the field with a stunning five-under-par round to set the early clubhouse lead by finishing level par for the championship.Starting the day at five-over, the youngster mixed six birdies with just one dropped shot to finish a memorable week in fabulous style and break 70 for the first time at Augusta. Four birdies in the last five holes including a gain at the 18th ensured Fitzpatrick, who claimed the British Masters at Woburn last year, will be back next year.It was fantastic. I am not going to lie I was nervous. It is a different type of nerves playing a major on a Sunday, Fitzpatrick told Sky Sports. Matthew Fitzpatrick will be back to play Augusta again next year You are just trying to go low and keep the momentum. Coming in I hit some great shots, I hit every green from the 12th and that is important around here. The round was equally incredible given the tournament is Fitzpatricks first since turning professional in 2014, his three previous majors had been as an amateur, and he intends to use all the experience gained. It is great experience for me - my second round score messed me up a little bit but it is one of those that you learn from and now I feel like I know I can go low particularly on a Sunday in a major, he added. When you have done it once you feel like you can do it again if your game is in the right shape. For me knowing that it is a real help going forward. Paul Casey was another to find form on the final day at Augusta Meanwhile, Paul Casey was another Englishman to produce a spectacular round playing in his tenth Masters, his round of 67 was his best effort at the course and got him to one-under-par for the MastersCasey hailed one of the best rounds of golf and also paid tribute to new caddie John McLaren. It was really solid round of golf, I really feel I missed maybe just two possibilities where i could have picked up another shot, he told Sky Sports. There is no question he [McLaren] has already elevated everything I do, he added. Paul Casey hit his best ever round at Augusta to finish the tournament on one under He is somebody I have got the utmost respect for, He had about six unbelieable years with Luke Donald - they got to world number one and won all over the globe. That is something I want to emulate.Luke is an unbelieavble golfer but he [McLaren] certainly brought something to the party and he is already doing that with my game.Lee Westwood was also left to reflect on another close-run thing, playing alongside champion Willett his final round moved him into a share of second spot and he was delighted after a lack of golf so far this season. Lee Westwood was proud of his performance at the Masters despite falling short in his chase for the green jacket. Also See: WATCH: Brace of aces Sam Darnold Jersey . "Im excited just for a new start, just to see where things are going, to bring some kind of tradition back to the team and guys being excited about something new," the defensive back said during a conference call Monday after agreeing to stay with the Bombers rather than go to free agency next month. Maximilian Arnold put Wolfsburg ahead in the eighth minute, when the stationary Fallou Diagne allowed him to guide Patrick Ochs cross beyond the helpless Freiburg goalkeeper, and Ivica Olic doubled the lead three minutes later after Luiz Gustavo did well to set him up.New York, NY - The NBA suspended New York Knicks forward Quincy Acy one game without pay for committing a flagrant foul 2 which initiated an altercation with Washington Wizards guard John Wall. The incident, which resulted in an ejection for Acy, occurred with 5:31 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Knicks 102-91 loss to the Wizards at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day. Joe Namath Jersey. . Wall took exception to a hard foul from Acy, retaliating with a shove. The New York forward swung his right arm as if to throw a punch before holding up. The 24-year-old Wall was fined $15,000 for pushing Acy and escalating the incident. Acy will serve his suspension on Saturday when the Knicks travel to Sacramento to play the Kings. CALABASAS, Calif. Baltimore Ravens Jerseys . -- The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department says former NFL and Southern California receiver Keyshawn Johnson has been arrested after a report of a domestic dispute. A Sheriffs Department statement says deputies responded to a residence in Calabasas at 12:48 a.m. Monday and determined the resident and his ex-girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute, and the resident was arrested for misdemeanour domestic battery. The department subsequently identified the resident as Johnson, who posted bond at 9:15 a.m. and was released. In the NFL, Johnson played for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. Hes currently an ESPN commentator and analyst. ESPN says its aware of the arrest and is looking into the matter. A call to Johnsons agent was not immediately returned. Jaleel Scott Jersey .Brady threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Julian Edelman midway through the fourth quarter, and New England beat the San Diego Chargers 23-14 for its eighth win in nine games. Orlando Brown Jr. Ravens Jersey .cas NHL Play of the Year showdown continues today with a man whos spent most of his career on highlight reels and a goalie actually "reaching back" for a save.MIAMI - Cleveland coach David Blatt can relate to what Anderson Varejao is going through, because he also once went through the process of rehabilitating a torn Achilles.A tough injury, Blatt said.Tough would also describe the process that awaits the Cavaliers, who will be without their starting centre and one of LeBron James closest confidants for the remainder of the season. Varejao was injured in Clevelands win over Minnesota on Tuesday night, falling to the court in obvious pain after positioning himself for a rebound in the third quarter. And on Wednesday, the Cavs worst fears were officially confirmed. Its a little tough talk about the impact of not having him, because this is the first game that we dont, Blatt said. But I will say that obviously, were going to miss Andy. Hes a big part of our team as a player, as a personality. Thats part of sport and part of basketball, certainly. You have to deal with injuries and with guys going down.Kevin Love was listed as the starter in Varejaos spot Thursday, when the Cavaliers visited the Miami Heat in James return to the arena he called home for the past four seasons. Varejaos departure will also mean more minutes for Tristan Thompson — who made 189 consecutive starts for Cleveland before this season began — and probably down low for James as well.Regardless, it will challenge Clevelands depth, and the expectation is that the Cavaliers will seek to add another big man before long.We will approach it initially on a game-to-game bbasis, maybe more matchup-oriented, Blatt said. Kenny Young Jersey. Well look down the line to see what we can do on a more permanent basis and guys will step up.Varejao averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds this season. He also shot just under 56 per cent, his best since the 2009-10 season. Not coincidentally, that was the most recent season where he and James were Cleveland teammates.James has long raved about what Varejao means to the Cavaliers on the court and off, and the four-time MVP knows losing the wild-haired Brazilian is a blow to Clevelands championship hopes. Its tough, James said. It hurts our team. More than anything its just tough on him. ... Hes a great friend of mine and I hate the fact that his season is taken away like that. This is the fourth time in the last five years that Varejao will miss more than half the Cavaliers games. He played in 76 out of a possible 230 games in a three-season stretch between 2010-11 and 2012-13 because of an array of injuries, then missed 17 more games last season.Varejao will have surgery in the coming days, after which his rehabilitation schedule and potential timetable for a return will be determined. Typically, the return time from such an injury is around nine months, which means Varejao — who signed an extension earlier this year that could keep him in Cleveland through 2017-18 — should be ready for the start of next season.Hes a big part, a huge part, of our success, James said. Its going to be hard to replace him. Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - No less than four men pulled out of the Wimbledon draw Wednesday, including 10th-seeded Croat Marin Cilic, 18th-seeded American John Isner and giant-killer Steve Darcis. Johan Mojica Colombia Jersey . The recent Queens Club grass-court runner-up Cilic was scheduled to meet Frenchman Kenny De Schepper on Day 3, but decided against playing due to a left knee injury, while the 6-foot-10 Isner was playing Frenchman Adrian Mannarino when he retired at 1-1 in the first set, also citing a left knee injury. Isner hurt his knee early in his match against Mannarino, took an injury timeout and called it quits after two games. The towering American, of course, is best known at the All England Club for playing the longest match in tennis history three years ago with a five-set marathon in the first round against Nicolas Mahut. The 11-hour, 5-minute epic took three days to complete because of rain and darkness, ending with a 70-68 score in the final set. Also pulling out was Darcis and Czech veteran Radek Stepanek. Darcis posted one of the biggest upsets in Wimbledon history on Monday when he shocked two-time Wimbledon champion and reigning French Open titlist Rafael Nadal in straight sets. But he was unable to meet Polands Lukasz Kubot because of a right shoulder injury. "Had to withdrawn after a win like this!?THE most difficult thing i had to do!!!#triedeverythingtoplaybutdidntwork!!!!" Darcis wrote on his Twitter account. Stepanek was losing to 6-foot-8, 24th-seeded Pole Jerzy Janowicz 6-2, 5-3 when he retired from their match due to a thigh injury. Rising 25th-seeded Frenchman Benoit Paire subdued fellow countryman Stephane Robert 6-4, 7-5, 6-4, while Serb Viktor Troicki topped Russian Andrey Kuznetsov 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 and German Dustin Brown doused 2002 Wimbledon champ and former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2. Future Hall of Famer Ricky Ray is in his prime and back for a third season in double blue. The 34-year old was magnificent in 2013, throwing for just under 2,900 yards despite missing eight games, tossing an impressive 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions, completing 66 per cent of his passes in the process. Abel Aguilar Jersey . As the schedule flipped from November to December, they would go on to drop five straight, falling six games below the .500 mark before a franchise-altering trade turned them into an unrecognizable team. The St. Louis Blues, having added Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from Buffalo, remain the No.1-ranked team in the TSN.ca NHL Power Rankings, ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins. Among the team moving up since the last update, the Los Angeles Kings have won four straight and jump from 12 to eight. The New Jersey Devils are up, from 18 to 13, though they keep going back to goaltender Martin Brodeur, decisions that incrementally undermind their efforts to reach the postseason. The Minnesota Wild, getting healthier and with only one loss in the past nine games, are up from 20 to 15 and the Washington Capitals, who had a four-game winning streak snapped Sunday, climb from 25 to 21. Heading the wrong way, the Phoenix Coyotes have one win in the past six games and are down from 13 to 19, while the Toronto Maple Leafs sllip from 15 to 20 after back-to-back OT losses coming out of the break. Luis Muriel Colombia Jersey. . Detroit, now minus Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, drops from 21 to 24, and the Carolina Hurricanes, who have lost five in a row, are down from 19 to 25. Among the rest of the Canadian teams, the Montreal Canadiens remain the highest-ranked, at nine. The Winnipeg Jets are up three, from 17 to 14, and the Vancouver Canucks inch up from 23 to 22, simply because they are healthier than they were going into the Olympic break. The Ottawa Senators are up a spot, from 24 to 23, the Edmonton Oilers stay put at 26 and the Calgary Flames are up one, from 28 to 27. CLEVELAND - The Browns moved a step closer to swiping a player from one of their AFC North rivals. Jose Fernando Cuadrado Colombia Jersey . Cleveland signed Bengals slot receiver Andrew Hawkins to a contract offer sheet on Thursday, a Browns spokesman said. Cincinnati will have five days — until next Tuesday — to match the reported four-year, $13.6 million deal, which includes a $3.8 million signing bonus, or theyll lose the speedy and elusive Hawkins. The Browns are in the market to fill the slot position after releasing troubled wide receiver Davone Bess last week. The Bengals have not said what they intend to do with Hawkins, who caught just 12 passes last season and missed four games with a high ankle sprain. In 2012, Hawkins had 51 catches for 533 yards and four touchdowns. The 28-year-old Hawkins was in Clevelands rookie minicamp in 2007, but wasnt signed. He played in the Canadian Football League before signing with the Bengals. If he joins the Browns, the 5-foot-7 Hawkins would provide a nice complement for Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon and another option for quarterback Brian Hoyer, who at this point is the favourite to begin next season as Clevelands starter. As they await Cincinnatis decision on Hawkins, the Browns are exploring other options and are believed to have interest in New Englands Julian Edelman, a free agent who caught 105 passes last season as Tom Bradys primary target. Edelman took over the role once held by Wes Welker and finished with 1,056 yards receiving and six touchdowns. The former Kent State quarterback also handled punt return duties for the Patriots. He has another local connection because he was a teammate on the Patriots with Hoyer, who backed up Brady for three seasons. On Thursday night, the Browns hosted Houston free agent running back Ben Tate, who could fill a major hole for Cleveland. Tate was supposed to meet with the team on Wednesday but his visit had to be postponed because of a severe winter storm. Tate rushed for 771 yards and four touchdowns last season, his third with the Texans. He has been on Clevelands radar for months, starting soon after the club traded Trent Richardson to Indianapolis for a first-round draft pick. Tate has averaged 4.7 yards per carry and hes rushed for 1,992 yards and 10 TDs. The Browns didnt adequately replace Richardson and their rushing game was almost nonexistent. Earlier in the day, the Browns signed tight end Jim Dray to a three-year, $5.62 million contract, with $2.25 million in the first season. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder spent the past four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, setting career highs with 26 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns last season. Primarily a blocker, Dray gives the Browns depth at tight end behind Pro Bowl Jordan Cameron and Gary Barnidge. Dray was impressed that the Browns showed early interest in him. "Just hearing from my agent that the Browns were pretty aggressive from the start of free agency," said Dray, drafted out of Stanford in the seventh round in 2010. "I thought that theyd be a great fit for me, so the feeling was mutual and Im really excited to be here. Ive been watching (offensive co-ordinator) coach (Kyle) Shanahans offence for Washington the past couple years, and the way they used their tight ends seemed like a good fit." The Browns also are waiting for what happens with Pro Bowl centre Alex Mack. They placed their transition tag — worth $10.039 million for one year — on him last week and will have five days to match any offer if he signs with another team. Mack has until July 22 to sign his transition tag and its possible his situation could drag on. Colombia Jerseys . Carling Bassett-Seguso was a world No. 8 almost 30 years ago. But the head linesman said there wasnt enough contact and that Hitchens was face-guarding, which isnt a penalty in the NFL.TSNs Jack Armstrong offers his thoughts on Raptors small forward Steve Novak, Nets shooting guard Marcus Thorntons firepower and deep range, Celtics point guard Rajon Rondos talent and the Chicago Bulls harder work on the court. 1. HUGE GAME: Im here in NYC for the Raptors at Nets game Monday night. Some games are just bigger than others and this is one of them. Four games separate them for first place in the Atlantic. Tie-breaker at stake, as well. A win by the Raps would be a major step with only 20 games to play beyond this one. Both are on a back-to-back. Its a tough challenge for Toronto versus a desperate opponent.  I cant wait. 2. STEVE NOVAK (Raptors):  The five three-pointers at Minnesota were major. Patrick Patterson is out and its all about digging deeper into your bench and he delivered. The sum is more important than the parts. Love how Landry Fields and Chuck Hayes haave performed when needed as well. Jose Fernando Cuadrado Jersey. 3. MARCUS THORNTON (Nets): 27 points Sunday night versus his old Kings team.  A terrific pickup for Brooklyn. He gives them firepower and deep range. Streaky scorer who can change a game quick if hes hot. He did that on Sunday night. He is the perfect complement off the bench for their team. 4. RAJON RONDO (Celtics): 11 points and 18 assists on Sunday versus the Pistons. GM Danny Ainges phone will be ringing off the hook this summer if he keeps dropping as many dimes as he did on Sunday. Hes a wonderful talent and if he gets back to being the explosive lead guard he once was, watch out! 5. CHICAGO BULLS: Watched their overtime win over the Heat on Sunday.  What can you say, other than wow! No team in the NBA plays harder than them. Coach Thibodeau gets after it and Joakim Noah is that guy you want on your side. Hustle truly is a talent. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Baltimore Ravens Jerseys .ca. In Sundays Blackhawks-Penguins game, Pittsburgh defenceman Brooks Orpik laid a huge hit on Chicagos Jonathan Toews. Now in my view, Orpik can be clearly seen leaving his feet while delivering a moderately high hit. Why wasnt there supplemental discipline, and should there have even been a penalty? I thought anytime you leapt or left your feet, a penalty is called! Am I missing something? Stu Alderson Stu: You and I are not the only ones missing something here as players continually elevate their posture and leave their feet at impact to deliver devastating hits.  Dangerous and significant contact to the head of their opponent almost always results whenever a player leaves his feet to make a big hit. In the here and now, these hits are deemed "legal." With an eye firmly set on the end game, which I hope still remains to greatly reduce contact to the head and resulting concussions, it is irresponsible to continue down this path any longer. While each camp can passionately debate their respective position on whether to allow or eliminate high hits where significant contact to the head of an opponent results, I respectfully submit this issue should no longer be a matter of personal opinion. Instead, it should only be about "science." Through irrefutable medical evidence, we now know the short and long term effects of blows to the head. This road map can provide us with a clear picture of the end game! Brooks Orpik set up to deliver a body check as he slowed and glided toward Jonathan Toews in the corner. Toews sole intent was to advance the puck around the end wall. In doing so, Jonathan Toews lowered his body posture to place him (and particularly his head) in a vulnerable position and must share the responsibility for the location of where he was hit. The onus of "how" the contact was delivered and the "degree of force" utilized is exclusively on Brooks Orpik and taken into account by the referee to determine the legality of the check. No differently than the vast majority of current players, Brooks Orpik finished his hit on Jonathan Toews with considerable force as demonstrated by his upward launch with skates high off the ice. This intensified the velocity and violence of the hit regardless of whether Toews was in a vulnerable position or not. In many cases I would even suggest that an opponents apparent vulnerability is something a player will capitalize on to enhance the degree of force exerted through a hit. We certainly dont see many players let up! Rule 42.1 tells us that a minor or major shall be imposed on a player who "jumps into" an opponent. The "jump" element of this rule was once applied when a players skates lost contact with the ice. Charging is seldom called in the current era of the game, where players leave their feet with far more frequency in the act of delivering a body check than ever before. The most common "excuse" for not calling this infraction is that a players skates did not completely leave the ice prior to initiating body contact. This generous and liberal interpretation is extended to include times when the toe tip of one skate remains in contact with the ice at impact.  Referees should be directed to impose a charging penalty in every case when a players skates leave the ice in the act of delivering a body check, period. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the end game; just a medical scientist!   Jaleel Scott Ravens Jersey . Football – the ultimate team sport, no one player is more important than another. Thomas Muller Jersey . Thats likely the answer youll get if you ask a coach to single out someone whose mere presence in the lineup on any given night can affect his teams fortunes. After all, this is a sport that gave us “next man up” – a term that nicely captures the notion that everyones easily replaced. Thats well and good, but if youre the Edmonton Eskimos the reality is quite a bit different when applied to slotback Adarius Bowman. Now in his seventh CFL campaign, the 6-3, 225lbs Bowman has always tantalized with his sure hands, willingness to impose his will on smaller defensive backs, and battle for the much coveted YAC (yards after catch) yards. In Edmontons opening week win over BC, Bowman led all receivers with nine catches for 105 yards and one touchdown and served notice that Mike Reillys favorite target may not always be Fred Stamps. Bowman was so dominant that Stamps, a four time CFL All-Star with five straight seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards, was largely invisible against the Lions. Thats not necessarily a bad thing for a team that is trying to hit the reset button after a 4-14 season, their worst since the wretched days of the 1960s.  Eskimo GM Ed Hervey had a lengthy to do list after 2013. Upgrade (significantly) a porous offensive line, which would in turn limit the amount of time Mike Reilly spent either running for his life, or being helped to his feet by teammates or trainers. A running back who could not only run, but also block would also be nice but having Bowman on the roster more often than not would provide real dividends ... and wins. Bowmans ability has never been in doubt, but his inability to stay healthy has limited his production for a player who can put up big numbers AND help the Esks every time hes in the line-up. The numbers are definitive. In just 26 games since 2011, Edmonton is 15-11 with Bowman in the line-up … and 8–21 without. New head coach Chris Jones has already shown that hes not ‘risk averse on either side of the ball and seemingly has full confidence in Bowmans place in the offence. Were all replaceable, especially so in football, but as the Esks have discovered life with Bowman is a whole letter better than life without him. Niklas Sule Jersey .During the week, McCoy told reporters he respected Hoyer for his intelligence, athleticism and how he conducts himself on and off the field. This wasnt an act, some attempt at psyching out Hoyer. Kevin Trapp Jersey . The Bruins forward has been fined $5,000 by the National Hockey League for spearing Red Wings defenceman Danny DeKeyser in the groin. It was on the 19th of November last year that the Blue Jays pulled off their massive 12-player deal with Miami that was supposed to set the table for a playoff season in 2013. Of course it didnt work out that way, but I suppose the point of this is, the deal came right out of nowhere. There were no hot rumours, no build-up. It just happened. This years Winter Meetings are being held from Dec. 9-12 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando. This is the third time the meetings have been held at this facility. The last time was in 2010. Its interesting to look back now at some of the rumours involving the Blue Jays back then and what actually went down. One of the hottest rumours had the Jays offering a package that might have included right hander Kyle Drabek, outfielder Travis Snider and a couple of other prospects to Kansas City for right hander Zach Greinke who was fresh off winning the American League Cy Young Award. There was also talk the Jays were going after Arizona outfielder Justin Upton and even Manny Ramirez. None of those deals came to fruition. Alex Anthopoulos did pull off the first major swap of those meetings though, sending right-hander Shaun Marcum to Milwaukee for Brett Lawrie. Again, though, there were no rumours surrounding that deal. It just happened. Arguably, the Jays most significant deal of that offseason didnt come until the New Year. They sent Vernon Wells and his huge contract to the Angels for catcher/1B/DH Mike Napoli and outfielder Juan Rivera. Four days later they flipped Napoli to Texas in a deal involving closer Frank Francisco. Wells incidently will be heading into the final year of his contract next season. Though Vernon will earn $21 million, the Yankees are only on the hook for $2.4 million of that. According the Baseball Reference.com, the Angels are paying the rest, some $18.6 million. Rumours and Deals There was actually a trade this week, with the Dodgers getting outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker and cash from Boston for outfielder prospect Alex Castellanos. The rumour mill really figures to start heating up at the Owners and GMs meetings running from Nov. 11-13 at Orlando. Usually those meetings are where the ground work is laid for the bigger deals and free agent signings to come through the fall and over the winter. Sebastian Rudy Jersey. This brings us back to the two big rumours of the past week or so, put out by ESPN contributors. One had the Mets possibly offering right-hander Jon Niese, outfielder prospect Cesar Puello and another prospect for Jose Bautista. The Mets really need a power bat to offer some support for David Wright, and J.P. Ricciardi who now works in the Mets front office acquired Bautista for the Blue Jays in the first place from Pittsburgh. Puello is supposed to be the key in the deal for the Blue Jays. Hes supposedly a top-notch right field prospect who plays the game with boundless hustle. Some have compared him to Yasiel Puig, without the hotdogging. Trouble is Puello was suspended for 50 games for using PEDs in connection with Biogenesis. But again its only another rumour. Another hot one had the Blue Jays being in the thick of the race for Cincinnatis out-of-favour second baseman Brandon Phillips. Though some say he had an offseason and caused some friction for the Reds by comparing his contract to that of Joey Votto and for getting into a beef with a reporter, Phillips is still one of top second basemen in the game. Even in an "off year" he knocked in 103 runs. If new Reds manager Bryan Price moves closer Aroldis Chapman into the starting rotation as has been rumoured, maybe Anthopoulos can offer some of the Blue Jays bullpen depth and a prospect or two for Phillips. But as a cautionary note, Phillips will be 33 next season and is owed $50 million on his contract over the next four years. If the Blue Jays are truly going to go "all-in" again next season, this is the deal that they might actually pursue. Still, its just another one of those rumours you hear this time of year, and most of these rumours as we learned from 2010, dont ever turn into reality. Tampa Bay, Oakland and Pittsburgh are three of the teams that proved this season that you can win with a lower-echelon payroll. But of the final four teams that were alive in the post-season, three were in the top five in money spent, and St. Louis was number 11. PHILADELPHIA -- Too worried about his own draft night, Jake Virtanen didnt hear about his hometown Vancouver Canucks trading Ryan Kesler until late Friday. Nicolas Tagliafico Jersey . Of course he paid attention when he saw the Canucks kept the No. 6 pick. "I just tried to shake it off and try not to worry about it," Virtanen said. The next player up after the consensus top five of Aaron Ekblad, Sam Reinhart, Leon Draisaitl, Sam Bennett and Michael Dal Colle, Virtanen got his "dream come true" when the Canucks used that sixth overall pick on him. "Its pretty surreal for me," the six-foot left-winger said. "Still trying to soak it in. Its an amazing feeling." Virtanen, a native of Abbotsford, B.C., becomes yet another piece of the Trevor Linden/Jim Benning retooling project on the day Kesler was sent to the Anaheim Ducks and defenceman Jason Garrison to the Tampa Bay Lightning. So does Sault Ste. Marie centre Jared McCann, taken with the No. 24 pick the Canucks got as part of the Kesler deal. Unlike centre Nick Bonino and defenceman Luca Sbisa, whom the Canucks got from Anaheim, and Derek Dorsett, acquired from the New York Rangers for a third-round pick, Virtanen seems like a long-term project. Not only could he probably use some more time with the WHLs Calgary Hitmen, but he had shoulder surgery in May and is targeting mid-October to be cleared to take contact. "If its not mid-October, I think I just want to be 100 per cent healthy," Virtanen said. "Im not going to rush anything. I just want to be healthy and be able to play my best game." Virtanen, a power forward who NHL Central Scoutings Peter Sullivan compares to Jarome Iginla, showed some of his best hockey this past season as a point-a-game player. He was also tied as Canadas leading scorer at the world under-18 championship. All that didnt mean Virtanen went into draft day relaxed and confident. He tossed and turned Thursday night worrying. Virtanen wondered if the shoulder injury would cause him to drop a few spots, but he hoped it wouldnt a big deal. Still, he was anxious about where hed get taken. "I kind of just sat at the hotel just sweating," Virtanen said. "The day was pretty crazy." Not just for him but the Canucks organization given the flurry of trades. Vancouver wrapped up its haul for Kesler by taking McCann, ranked 10th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, with the 24th pick. McCann, a native of Stratford, Ont., had 62 points in 64 games last season and is considered a gifted playmaker. Nahuel Guzman Jersey . Leverkusen said on Friday it signed Schmidt on a two-year contract. He guided Red Bull Salzburg to the Austrian championship this season. Custom Argentina World Cup Jerseys . 22. Wade averaged 26.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals while leading the Heat to a 3-0 record. Graham and the New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms on a new contract. According to ESPNs Adam Schefter, its a four-year, $40 million deal with $21 million guaranteed. The All-Pro broke the news on his Twitter account Tuesday, tweeting “Its official Im bleeding black and gold this morning!" Its official Im bleeding black and gold this morning! Thank you WhoDatNation for all the support. — Jimmy&nnbsp;Graham (@TheJimmyGraham) July 15, 2014 The deal comes just ahead of the 4pm et deadline for franchise tagged players to sign new contracts with their teams. Eduardo Salvio Jersey. Graham of course filed a grievance when he was first tagged by the team, asking to be considered a wide receiver rather than a tight end, which would have pushed the price of his franchise tag higher. The grievance was ultimately rejected. The former third-rounder has 301 catches for 3,863 yards and 41 touchdowns in his four-year career, all with the Saints. VANCOUVER -- The Vancouver Canucks had a December to remember. Hayden Hurst Jersey . Since the calendar flipped to 2014, its been a very unhappy new year. After compiling a 10-1-2 mark last month that put some distance between the teams chasing them in the Western Conference wildcard race, the Canucks have lost five in a row, including four straight to start January. The latest setback came Tuesday, when the Pittsburgh Penguins scored twice in the final 1:11 of regulation with their goalie pulled to tie the game before winning 5-4 in a shootout. All told, the Canucks have given up six goals in five games this season when opponents have their goalie on the bench for an extra attacker. "Late in games, I always talk about situational play," Canucks head coach John Tortorella said after Thursdays practice at Rogers Arena. "Situational play is a mindset and we have not totally grasped that. Thats a mental toughness, to me. I believe you can develop that type of mental toughness -- to play in the (hard) areas at certain times, at certain (moments) of games. "I think at times weve done it this year, and obviously of late here, we havent." Tortorella said the only way to deal with blown leads is to get back on the horse. "You hope youre leading again 3-2 in the third period ... and you find a way to get it done," he said. "You need to grasp something." Tortorella said that for him, the most fascinating part of coaching is the mind, adding that its his job to make sure players learn how to be tough mentally game in and game out. "I tell the players theyre screwed -- if I see it once, I know its there," said Tortorella. "When you show signs you can do it, then you need to demand yourself to do it more consistently. Thats a big part of our responsibility. Ive seen us play stiff enough to handle situations. "When youre developing an identity of a hockey club, it falls on the coach to demand it and keep it there. Im in it with them as far this little slump here." Vancouvers current losing streak includes road defeats to the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks. The Canucks currently sit in the first wildcard position, but they host the powerhouse St. Louis Blues on Friday before travelling back to Los Angeles and Anaheim as part of a three-game roadtrip. "The schedules not getting any easier," said Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa. "Weve got a lot teams that are ahead of us in the standings that were playing. These are the teams we have to beat if we want to catch them." Bieksa said the players arent dwelling on the late-game collapses, but are instead trying to learn from the mistakes. "Sometimes maybe we clench up a bit towards the end of the game with the lead because weve lost it so many times and its in the back of guys head," he said. "You still have to go out there and make a play. Its not just going back and just hammering pucks around the boards and shooting it out and then they come right back on you. "Somebodys got to make a play. Somebodys got to make a tape-to-tape pass. Somebodys got to hold onto a puck down low and kill some time. Someones got to beat a guy and get a shot on net. Its just a mindset of continuing to play the same way." Apart from blowing leads, the Canucks have also had a miserable time in the shootout this season. Vancouver has a meagre 2-6 record and is a combined 4-for-32 on shootout attempts. Tortorella had the Canucks practice the shootout for nearly 15 minutes at the end of practice on Thursday, with fourth-liner Zac Dalpe and defenceman Jason Garrison finding a measure of success. Tortorella downplayed the exercise, saying its impossible to mimic game shootout conditions in practice, before sharing what he thought of NHL games being decided by a skills competition. "It should be out of the league," he said. "That gimmick should be out of the league." Note: Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows and defenceman Alexander Edler were both full participants at Thursdays practice, but Tortorella said neither has been cleared to play. Burrows has been out with a broken jaw, while Edler has been sidelined by a knee injury. Jaleel Scott Ravens Jersey . Kamloops, B.C., the host city of this years Tim Hortons Brier, is where he won his first Canadian mens curling crown in 1996. Jaleel Scott Jersey . No such luck. Wiggins owned the end of Parkers impressive homecoming. The Kansas star scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half, outplaying Parker down the stretch and helping the fifth-ranked Jayhawks knock off No.(CCA) - Braden Calvert and his Winnipeg team notched two more wins on Saturday, including a 6-5 victory over first-place Norway at the World Junior Curling Championships in Flims, Switzerland. "I guess well take the win after a game like that," said Calvert, who handed Norwegian skip Eirik Mjoeen his first loss of the round robin. "We got off to a bad start. I threw a really bad rock in five and we had to come back from that. Luckily, we did and we pulled through." After giving up consecutive steals and trailing 3-0 at the break, Calvert and his team of Kyle Kurz, Lucas Van Den Bosch, Brendan Wilson, alternate Matt Dunstone and coach Tom Clasper fought back in the sixth. Calvert made a tricky angle raise double to score two and followed that up with a steal of two in the seventh to go ahead. "That was huge in terms of the momentum we got from that shot," Calvert said about the double in the sixth end. "We gained a lot of confidence and basically got back at them." Against Switzerland, the Canadians "came prepared to play," according to Canadian Team Leader Andrea Ronnebeck. "The Swiss fans, as always, were enthusiastic but so were the Canadian fans," said Ronnebeck. "The arena was rocking (pun intended) with a full house of Norwegians, Swiss, Scots, Italians, Americans and Canadians. It was awesome. Cow bells and all!"& And the Canadian supporters had a lot to cheer for as Calvert led the team to a 7-2 win over Switzerlands Yannick Schwaller, improving Canadas record to 4-3 and moving them into a three-way tie for third place (with Scotlands Kyle Smith and Schwaller). Kenny Young Jersey.  "Were starting to get on a bit of a roll," said Calvert after the game. "Were starting to gain some momentum and confidence. We were really sharp out of the gate tonight and grabbed an early deuce. That was definitely the turning point in the game and we kept fighting and were able to pull it off. All the teams here are tough and each game is going to be a battle." On Sunday, the Canadian men will take on USAs Jake Vukich (2-5) and Austrias Sebastian Wunderer (3-4) to finish up the round robin. On the womens side, Kelsey Rocque defeated USAs Cory Christensen 8-4 to move into first place in the standings, tied with Korea, Switzerland and Russia, all with 5-2 records. Rocque and her Edmonton team of Keely Brown, Taylor McDonald, Claire Tully, alternate Alison Kotylak and coach Amanda-Dawn Coderre led the USA 6-4 after eight ends and scored a deuce in the ninth to put the game away. The Canadian women have now won three in a row and will try to keep the momentum going in their final games of the round robin on Sunday against Scotlands Gina Aitken (2-5) and Denmarks Christine Svensen (0-7). CLEVELAND -- New Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine has his play caller. Gelson Martins Portugal Jersey . Kyle Shanahan was hired as offensive co-ordinator Monday after spending the previous four years in the same role with the Washington Redskins. Pettine, hired Jan. 23 to replace Rob Chudzinski, is in his first job as an NFL head coach. His experience is as a defensive assistant, so he will rely heavily on Shanahan, whos been a co-ordinator for the last six seasons and has 10 years as an NFL assistant. An experienced co-ordinator is crucial as Cleveland tries to turn around its fortunes. The Browns, who had four offensive players in the Pro Bowl, are expected to select a quarterback early in Mays draft and Shanahan will have a hand in his development. Shanahan, 34, got his first job as a co-ordinator in 2008 when he was hired by Houston at 28 years old. After two seasons there, he joined his father, Mike, head coach of the Washington Redskins. Both Shanahans spent four seasons with Washington before being fired Dec. 30 after a 3-13 season. They also clashed with quarterback Robert Griffin III. But Kyle Shanahan brings a strong resume to the Browns. His offences have ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in yardage four of his six seasons as a co-ordinator, including the last two in Washington. Shanahan ran a version of the West Coast Offense, incorporating the pistol formation and read option, and the Redskins in 2012 became the first team in NFL history to pass for 3,400 yards and rush for 2,700. They led the league in yards per play (6.17), won the rushing title and Griffin set league rookie records for passer rating (102.4), interception percentage (1.27) and rushing yards by a quarterback (815). The record slipped in 2013, but the Redskins ranked ninth in total yards per game (369.7) and fifth in rushing (135.3). Receiver Pierre Garcon set a franchise record and led the NFL with 113 receptions. The Browns interviewed Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo on Thursday. Shanahan replaces veteran co-ordinator and three-time head coach Norv Turner. The Browns allowed him to explore other jobs after Chudzinski was fired, and Turner was hired as co-ordinator by new Vikings coach Mike Zimmer. The Cleveland offence ranked 27th in scoring (19.3 points per game), 18th in total yardage (338.9), 11th passing (252.5) and tied for 27th rushing (86.4). Last week, Pettine hired Jim ONeil as defensive co-ordinator and retained special teams co-ordinator Chris Tabor.
