Phil Taylor hailed the Anthony Joshua of darts after Michael van Gerwen beat him to win the Premier League title. Blaise Matuidi France Jersey . Van Gerwen added to his 2013 Premier League crown with a dominant showing at the O2 Arena on Thursday night, first beating Adrian Lewis in the semi-final before an 11-3 thrashing of The Power in the final. The Dutchman continues to sweep all before him and Taylor was quick to draw parallels with another dominant force in sport, the 16-time world champion admitting he was powerless to stop the Green Machine. He beat me up, he put me under pressure and he made me miss doubles. He is doing phenomenal things and I dont know how he does it, Taylor told Sky Sports.I tried to give it my best, I tried to relax and throw quicker or throw slower but I could not react against him. It is his finishing... his scoring is good but his finishing is phenomenal and that is where he hurts you.Its the combinations, its not just the one shot - he is like Anthony Joshua at the moment. Phil Taylor hailed phenomenal Michael van Gerwen I was gutted about last year but to get through to the semi-final in the league we have now is magnificent - we have got the best players I have ever been with. Ive been with them all, but these lads are different class. For Van Gerwen, it was a welcome return to the Premier League winners circle having only been victorious in the event once, despite four consecutive finishes at the top of the regular season standings. The Dutchman was playing in his fourth consecutive Premier League final and could not hide his delight at claiming the trophy again after a three-year gap. Premier League Finals Night recap A dramatic night at the O2 - as it happened I am glad I was the best tonight. I wanted to win back this trophy, and I am glad I took it back, Van Gerwen told Sky Sports.I only lost one game in the Premier League, against James Wade on the first night, and what can I say, it feels fantastic and I am over the moon to win the title. It was a while ago that I won it for the first time and I wanted to have it back. I have played strong in this tournament, Ive finished top of the table four years in a row and now I can hold the trophy for a second time. Losing finalist Phil Taylor says Michael van Gerwen put him under extreme pressure during his Premier League final and he could not match the Dutchman Vanquished semi-finalists Adrian Lewis and Gary Anderson were in despondent mood after below-par showings in their semi-final defeats.World champion and defending Premier League champion Anderson was beaten by Taylor in the second semi-final but admitted he was far from his best and vowed to return stronger. Its really disappointing for me. I missed too many doubles and then when I got back at Phil, I just couldnt get level, but Ill be back. After the start I had to the season, I did well just to get to the Play-Offs, but when youre here, you want to win it and Ive not done that. Adrian Lewis was left to reflect on what might have been at The O2 For Lewis, who was beaten 10-4 by eventual winner Van Gerwen, he has promised to hit the practice room in a bid to improve for the months ahead,It was one of those nights for me, said Lewis. I felt like I threw good darts but they were landing just on the wrong sides of the wires, but Michael was the better man and deserved to win.Im proud to have reached the Play-Offs in such a competitive field, but I know Ive got more to give in the coming months and Ill get back on the practice board. ORCHARD PARK, N. Custom New York Jets Jerseys .Y. -- Buffalo Bills president Russ Brandon opened 2013 vowing to transform what he called the franchises "tarnished" reputation. On Monday, Brandon closed the year with the job still incomplete. Though pleased with the direction the team has taken under first-year general manager Doug Whaley and first-year coach Doug Marrone, Brandon expressed disappointment with a 6-10 finish and the Bills extending the NFLs longest active playoff drought to 14 seasons. "I have all the faith and belief in (Marrone) and (Whaley) to keep continuing to get this ship pointed in the right direction and see significant progress as we enter 2014," Brandon said. "What we dont feel good about is sitting here and talking to you at 6-10. And that needs to change." Change was the operative word last off-season, when the Bills went through a near top-to-bottom overhaul. Buffalo purged much of its roster, and began a rebuilding plan that included drafting quarterback EJ Manuel with the 16th pick out of Florida State. The transition has yet to start paying dividends. In closing the season with a 34-20 loss at New England on Sunday, Buffalo finished with six wins for a third consecutive year, ended fourth in the AFC East for a sixth consecutive year, and extended its string of losing seasons to nine dating to a 9-7 finish in 2004. "With youth comes inconsistency," Whaley said. "So all those guys that contributed this year, we expect them to take a bigger step next year, play more consistent and be more productive." And that includes Manuel, who struggled with his consistency, and had his development stunted by injuries to both knees since August. Manuel missed the final two preseason games with a left knee injury. He missed four regular-season games after spraining his right knee in a 37-24 loss at Cleveland. And he then closed the year missing the final two games after tearing a ligament in his left knee. Manuel finished with a 4-6 record, completed just 58.8 per cent of his attempts (180 of 306 for 1,972 yards) and finished with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Marrone maintains confidence in Manuel, and has already informed the quarterback hell be the teams starter entering next season. Dismissing his critics, Manuel called his rookie season a learning process. "Obviously, youre going to have ups and downs as a rookie," Manuel said. "Ive had some good games, and theres a lot I can take and build from. I dont really know whos questioning things. But as far as me, Im just continuing to get better." Marrone announced hes already made one change to his staff by firing receivers coach Ike Hilliard because of "a difference in philosophy." Hilliard, who spent 12 seasons in the NFL playing receiver, was responsible for overseeing a young group that included rookies Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin. On the personnel front, Whaley intends to make an offer in a bid to re-sign three-time Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd. And Whaley didnt rule out the possibility of using the franchise designation for a second consecutive year to retain the players rights even if it risks the possibility of having the player miss the entire off-season as he did this past year. Byrd is open to re-signing, and also braced for possibility of the Bills retaining his rights once again. "Im at peace with everything. I know what to expect," Byrd said. "Ive gone through it once. And itll be good. However it works, itll be good." Statistically, the Bills showed improvement on several fronts. Their defence, though inconsistent in stopping the run, finished second in the NFL with a franchise-record 57 sacks. The defence ranked 10th in the NFL in yards allowed -- the units best finish since placing second in 2004. Byrd, defensive tackle Kyle Williams and defensive end Mario Williams all earned Pro Bowl selections this year. The defence also featured linebacker Kiko Alonso, a second-round pick, who is regarded an NFL defensive rookie of the year candidate. On offence, the Bills running attack finished second in the NFL with 2,307 yards -- the most since 1992. Running back Fred Jackson was among numerous veterans who expressed confidence the team might finally be turning the corner. "If you watched us play this year, youll know that were not the same team that weve been," Jackson said. "But theres no moral victories. We know that. We know that for us to be relevant, we have to win more football games." ---- NOTES: The Bills retained the rights to seven practice squad players: QB Dennis Dixon, DB Mario Butler, OTs Edawn Coughman and Jamaal Johnson-Webb, DE Ikponmwosa Igbinosun, WR Brandon Kaufman and LB Jacquies Smith. ... Whaley said hes open to re-signing PK Dan Carpenter and P Brian Moorman. Sam Darnold Jets Jersey .Kessy tried to show what he can do playing left wing for the Oilers in 5-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday in pre-season action.Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Markieff Morris finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds and the Phoenix Suns opened a four-game road trip on a winning note with a 102-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Isaiah Thomas donated 19 points off the bench, Goran Dragic added 16 and the Suns won their third straight despite turning it over 20 times. Brandon Knight paced the Bucks with 26 points, and Giannis Antetokounmpo totaled 16 with 12 rebounds in Milwaukees fourth straight home loss. We were in the game. We had an opportunity against one of the hottest teams in the league and we just couldnt get the ball to bounce our way, Bucks head coach Jason Kidd said. The Suns scored 12 of the first 16 points of the fourth quarter to take an 83-76 lead and stayed in front the rest of the way. Khris Middleton, whose buzzer-beating 3-pointer beat the Suns back on Dec. 15, hit from deep with under two minutes left to pull the Bucks within 94-92, Phoenix, however, answered with the next six points to cement the win. Dragic drove left foor two, Morris drained a straightaway 3 the next time down, and Thomas went 1-for-2 at the foul line in the final minute. Trenton Cannon Jets Jersey. We needed to make big plays. Markieff made a big three there and Goran hit a big shot, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. There were seven leads changes in the opening five minutes and none the remainder of an ugly first half. The Bucks led 21-15 heading to the second quarter and 44-43 at halftime. Both teams combined for 25 turnovers and 3-of-23 (13 percent) shooting from 3-point range. A dunk-filled third quarter ended with the Bucks holding a 72-71 edge. Game Notes Phoenix has won nine of 11 overall and has scored 100-plus points in nine straight games ... Suns center Alex Len totaled nine points, eight rebounds and five blocks in 24 minutes ... The Bucks visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday ... Milwaukee shot 3-of-20 from the perimeter ... NEW YORK -- The last time the New York Rangers had a game to forget, they responded with five straight wins that put them on the cusp of the Stanley Cup finals. Phil Jones Jersey . They are still there, and the Montreal Canadiens arent going away without a fight. New York needs one more victory to reach the championship round for the first time in 20 years. The Rangers know that Game 6 at home on Thursday is their best chance to get it. They returned home from Montreal on Wednesday, one day after a wild 7-4 loss cut their series lead to 3-2. If New York doesnt end it Thursday, the Rangers will have to go back to Montreal for a deciding Game 7. New York, which went the full seven games in each of the first two rounds of this years playoffs, will be playing its 20th post-season game. No team that played a pair of seven-game series before the conference finals has reached the Stanley Cup finals. "Its an opportunity to win the game to go to the Stanley Cup final," Rangers forward Brad Richards said. "I think everybody is alert and ready that way. We were talking about it all (Tuesday) how excited we were to get on the ice and start playing. "We had some mental breakdowns, but I dont think it had anything to do with (fatigue). Weve had a lot of rest this series. The opportunity that faces us right now, were pretty excited about it. I dont think there is too much letdown." In the second round, a poor performance at home in Game 4 against Pittsburgh dropped the Rangers into a 3-1 series hole. But New York won Game 5 on the road, took Game 6 at home, and won the clincher back in Pittsburgh to set up the matchup with Montreal. Now that the Canadiens have staved off elimination once, the Rangers are wary of giving them any more hope they can turn the tables. "You learn a lot from it. Thats why experience is experience," Richards said. "You go through many situations. (Tuesday) night was a bad feeling, but today were getting on a plane to go back to our city, and we get to play in front of our fans. "Its always, forget as quick as possible and try to remember the good things that were doing. It was one bad night, but weve been doing a lot of good things in this series." The Rangers won the opening two games in Montreal and then split a pair of overtime decisions at home. Even though they have had success on the road and in recent Game 7s, they know that going the distance again works against them. "Its a desperate time," Richards said. "You dont want to go back to a Game 7 where anything can happen. We want to get this done. Theyre a good team anywhere. "Were going to have to be a lot better, and we will be." This is as far as New York has advanced since captain Mark Messier led the club to the 1994 Stanley Cup title -- breaking the Rangers 54-year drought. The Garden will be ready to celebrate again Thursday. After the Rangers lost Game 4 to Pittsburgh, the loyal fans thought they might not see their team again until next season. That will be the situation again if the Canadiens pull off another victory. "You win a game, and things change in your locker room and you start feeling better about yourselves," Rangers defenceman Marc Staal said. "We know how it feels coming back in a series, but it doesnt change anything in our room. We are as confident as ever going into our building, and looking forward to it." So are the Canadiens. They know that if they wouldve scored in overtime of Game 4 as they did in Game 3, they wouldve had a two-game sweep at the Garden and would be the ones looking to advance Thursday. "Well be ready for one of those tight-checking games," defenceman Josh Gorges said Wednesday after an optional practice in Montreal. "Im sure it will be again one of those hard-fought games that well have to make sure that were even better than we were last game." Montreal will have rugged forward Brandon Prust back in the lineup after he served a two-game suspension for a late hit on Derek Stepan in Game 3 that broke the Rangers forwards jaw. Stepan returned Tuesday and scored two goals while wearing a full faceguard. The Rangers will be without defenceman John Moore. He was suspended for two games Wednesday after receiving a match penalty Tuesday night for a hit to Montreal forward Dale Weises head. Henrik Lundqvist will be back in goal for the Rangers after he was pulled in Game 5 on a rare off night in which he allowed four goals on 19 shots in less than two periods. He avoided the loss when New York rallied from a 4-1 deficit to get even. Backup goalie Cam Talbot gave up two goals in relief. "(Tuesday) night was probably the best game weve played in this series," Canadiens forward Lars Eller said. "If we keep doing a lot of those things, I think the end result will be good." Ruben Loftus-Cheek Jersey . Mitchell first announced on Twitter that he has signed with the Steelers and his agent Brian Hamilton confirmed the signing to The Associated Press. Financial terms were not released. The Steelers have not announced the addition of Mitchell. The Bills announced the deal Tuesday evening, about an hour after Glenns representatives, Sports Trust Advisors, revealed the agreement had been reached on its Twitter account. The Bills placed the designation on Glenn in March to retain his rights and prevent him from entering free agency.Glenn was selected in the second round of the 2012 draft out of Georgia, and has started 61 games for Buffalo.Last year, he was part of a line that helped Buffalo lead the league with 2,432 yards rushing. With a new long-term contract and training camp within sight, Montreal Canadiens defenceman P. Johan Mojica Jersey .K. Subban is ready to get started on the new NHL season. Speaking to the media at Canadiens head coach Michel Therriens charity golf tournament, Subban addressed his recent arbitration hearing and contract negotiations leading up to his new eight-year, $72 million deal. "Im just happy to be here long term, and I know theyre very happy to have me," he told reporters. Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin and owner Geoff Molson were under fire during the off-season for what seemed to be a long road towards signing the 25-year-old to a long-term deal. Now that the deal is done, the young veteran defencemen is sticking up for the management team. "It was a very healthy process for me," he explained. "There were no negatives with this process. I think it was a little bit unsettling to hear some of the things that were said about management and Marc during the process. "I understand, but it was still disturbing for me. At this point in time I think everyone needs to look at the fact that the deal is done, Im here for a long time and it doesnt matter how the process happened." The Canadiens and Subbans camp met for their arbitration hearing on August 1 in Toronto. Both sides voiced their arguments to an appointed arbitrator in a four-hour session. From the end of the hearing, the arbitrator was given 48 hours to reach her decision. The Canadiens and Subban had until a decision was announced to sign a new contract, otherwise the arbitration contract would have been binding and the two sides could not negotiate a new deal until January 1. "I understand when its me its a little more magnified," Subban continued. "Thats okay, but at the end of the day the fans of Montreal and the community here should be happy with Marc Bergevin and Geoff Molson and how theyve conducted themselves not only with me, but with players that have signed long term deals. Its always first class, theyve done it the right way, and Im just happy to be here long term." Since the departure of former captain Brian Gionta to the Buffalo Sabres in the off-season, theres been much debate over who will be named the 34th captain in franchise history. Subbans name is one that surfaces the most, but the 2013 Norris Trophy winner wants it to be known that each of his teammates bring different leadership skills to the table. "When you look at our team everyone leads in a different way," he said. "But the cool thing about our team is that we have a lot of guys that are different leaders who have stepped up at different points in the season, and over the years." Lars Eller, fresh off signing a new four-year deal in July also weighed in on the captaincy debate. "I dont really see it that way as one guy replacing another guy," he told reporters at Therriens golf tournament. "We have a lot of leaders in the room and together were going to fill those shoes." Jefferson Lerma Jersey . Span, Danny Espinosa and Adam LaRoche had two hits apiece as Washington won the final two games of the series. The Nationals improved to 3-7 against Atlanta. They increased their division lead over the Braves to 1 1/2 games. David Ospina Colombia Jersey . They have watched it from afar. And now they have seen it for themselves. HOUSTON -- Washington outfielder Bryce Harper had surgery on his injured left thumb on Tuesday and will be out for an extended period of time. Manager Matt Williams would not commit to a time frame, but said "that time frame is out there" after reports Monday that he would be out until at least July. "The doctor reported that everything went fine, and we got a little message from Bryce about getting back and taking BP post-surgery," Williams joked. "It went fine, well have to see how long it takes ... we expect him to heal fast. Given his history, he has healed pretty fast. We are optimistic about it, but were not really sure how long it is going to take." The two-time All-Star was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with what was then called a sprained left thumb. Williams talked about what Harpers absence will mean for his team. "It hurts a lot. Hes a fantastic player," Williams said. Frank Fabra Jersey. "Well certainly miss him, but were going to have to step up." He was injured on Friday night against San Diego on a headfirst slide into third base on a triple. He remained in the game until after the next inning. Despite the injury, Williams is not opposed to headfirst slides. "Bryce had another collision sliding feet first earlier in the year, and he hurt himself last year sliding feet first," Williams said. "Its something that you cant control. The play that he hurt himself on, he was trying to get to third base the quickest he could, and I dont know if he is safe if he slides feet first. He was safe sliding head first, but he got the thumb in the wrong position." The 21-year-old Harper is batting .289 with one home run and nine RBIs this season. Six weeks into the NFL season, the Chicago Bears sat tied for the NFC North lead with four wins and two losses. Koke Spain Jersey . Then, Week 7 yielded three major losses, a defeat at the hands of the 1-4 Washington Redskins, the loss of linebacker Lance Briggs and the loss of quarterback Jay Cutler. The Bears lost 45-41, while their defence was burned for 499 yards by Robert Griffin III and the Redskins offence. Cutler suffered a groin injury and Briggs a small fracture in his left shoulder. Cutler is expected to return to the Bears offence in 3-to-5 weeks, while Briggs is out at least a month on the other side of the ball. Josh McCown replaced Cutler at quarterback and finished 14-for-20 for 204 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. The Bears used three rushing touchdowns from Matt Forte and an 81-yard punt return from Devin Hester to keep pace with the Redskins before ultimately falling. Following their Week 8 bye, the Bears sit third in the NFC North behind the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions. However, a win tonight against the Packers would put the Bears into a three-way tie for the division lead. You can watch the game live on TSN at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt. The key question for the Bears is whether they compete in the division without Cutler. Chicagos next two games are both against divisional opponents, with the Lions coming up next week. With losses in both games the Bears would fall to 4-4 and be at least two games out of the division lead. The Bears will likely rely heavily on Forte in Cutlers absence, as the running back ranks third in the NFL in yards per game (76.1) and eighth in yards per attempt (4.6). Forte faces a tough matchup tonight however, against the Packers fourth-ranked run defence. The once-vaunted Bears defence has struggled this season, giving up the seventh-most yards per game and fourth-most points per game. If that trend continues the Bears will likely be left little choice but to put the ball in McCowns hands to keep pace with the Packers second-ranked offensive unit. McCown hasnt started a game since the 2011 season when he started two for the injured Cutler. He went 1-1 in those two games, with two touchdowns and three interceptions. His lone loss came against the Packers on Christmas night. Two straight divisional losses for the Bears could be the difference between making the playoffs and missing the postseason for the third straight season. Can the Bears compete in the NFC North without Cutler? As always, its Your! Call. UTICA, N. Jim Kelly Bills Jersey .Y. -- Max Reinhart scored twice as the Abbotsford Heat held off the Utica Comets 4-3 in American Hockey League play Friday. Blair Jones, with the game-winning goal, and Markus Granlund also scored for the Heat (6-4-1). Henrik Tommernes, Zach Hamill and Benn Ferriero replied for the winless Comets (0-6-2). Abbotsford goaltender Joni Ortio finished with 27 saves, while Joe Cannata stopped 30 shots for Utica. Reinharts first goal gave Abbotsford a brief lead in the first period before Hamill tied the game less than two minutes later. The teams traded goals again in the second, with Tommernes and Granlund swapping power-play goals. Reinhart scored 6:32 into the third, but Uticas Ferriero tied the game for the last time at 8:15. Jones then scored at 15:25 to put Abbotsford ahead for good. Buffalo Bills Jerseys . LOUIS -- The St. Tremaine Edmunds Bills Jersey . For Bergevin, the best pick is the 30th — which traditionally goes to the Stanley Cup winner. "Thats our goal.CALGARY -- A big NHL name with no previous experience coaching international hockey has stepped behind the bench of Canadas Olympic womens hockey team. Kevin Dineen was introduced Tuesday as the replacement for Dan Church, who abruptly resigned last week. Dineen was fired last month by the NHLs Florida Panthers. Hes represented Canada as a player six times, but the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, will be the first time hes coached a Canadian team. Dineen called his hiring "hopping on a moving train" as the Sochi opening ceremonies are less than two months away. Two forwards and a defenceman must be released before the 21-player Olympic roster is named. Dineen was born in Quebec City, but grew up in Toronto. The 50-year-old played in 1,188 NHL regular-season games, scoring 355 goals and adding 405 assists for the Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets and Ottawa Senators. He also played for the Canadian team that finished fourth at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. "That stuck with me a long time, not to come out of there with a medal," Dineen said. "I may have a little unfinished business from my Olympic experience." Dineen was in his third season coaching the Panthers when he was dismissed Nov. 8. Looking for hockey work, Dineen said he contacted Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson early last week about the possibility of coaching at the mens world championship in April. Church returned home to Toronto last Thursday without addressing the players. Hockey Canada said he left for "personal reasons." Churchs explanation before boarding the plane was he felt there was a lack of confidence in his ability to coach Canada to Olympic gold. The women lost 5-1 that evening to the United States with assistants Danielle Goyette and Lisa Haley co-coaching. The women went 1-1 in weekend games against male midget triple-A teams. Dineen flew to Toronto on Sunday to meet with Nicholson, chief operating officer Scott Smith and womens team scout and general manager Melody Davidson. "I was not expecting this opportunity," Dineen said. "This has been a whirlwind few days but when this opportunity presented itself I immediately jumped at it. "You end up getting fired and you go through a range of emotions. Sometimes things happen for a reason. I think this may be my reason." Dineen ran his first practice with the women after he was introduced to the media at a news conference. The Canadian women have been training full time in Calgary since August and have already played more than 30 games. The players were informed who their new coach would be just a few minutes before the news conference. They taped their names to the front of their helmets for practice so Dineen would know who they were. "It was typical hockey school, trying to help him out a bit," goaltender Charline Labonte said. "Right now, moving forward I think if we have the opportunity its nice to have someone who played the game. No, he doesnt know much about womens hockey. He seems interested and I know hes watched a lot of tapes. I know hell do anything to be ready and to learn about our game." Canada and the U.S. will clash three times over the next two weeks in their final exhibition games prior to the Olympics, starting with Fridays matchup in Grand Forks, N.D. Canada won womens Olympic hockey gold in 2002, 2006 and 2010, but has lost four of the last five world championship finals to the U.S. Hockey Canadas plan was to announce the Olympic roster prior to their holiday break next week, but the timetable is murkier with the coaching change. Five-time Olympian Hayley Wickenheiser says Dineen will have to adjust to dealing with female athletes, but she didnt feel his lack of international coaching experience would hinder his ability to coach the Canadian women. "Hes played for a long time and coached in the NHL and has a good track record of coachhing experience and also playing internationally, so Im not too concerned about that," Canadas all-time leading scorer said. Custom Buffalo Bills Jerseys. "Its different than the mens game, how you handle players, the way you approach team concepts and put the team together. Aside from that, the game on the ice, I dont think its too complicated to what goes on the mens side. "Men and women are different in the way they function and thats probably going to be the biggest adjustment for him." Dineens daughter Hannah is a freshman forward for Colby College in Maine and another daughter Emma is a soccer player. Dineen says hes coached Hannah and a team of Maine selects the last five years. "Ive been exposed to the intense, committed female athlete," he said. Dineen says hes already asked his daughters for advice and theyve told him to watch his language. "Dads vocabulary is sometimes . . . I think Ive been in enough womens locker-rooms over the year to know exactly how they speak so I dont have a lot of concerns on that," Dineen said. Davidson coached the Canadian women to gold in 2006 and 2010, but was adamant she would not step into the breach. McGill Martlets head coach Peter Smith and former NHL players Doug Lidster, Ryan Walter and Tim Bothwell have all served as either head or assistant coaches of the Canadian women at previous Olympics and world championships. But Hockey Canada went off the board to recruit a man fresh from the NHL ranks. "The biggest thing is we needed a new voice overall and in the end it didnt come from within our program," Davidson said. "Thats why I wasnt in the running, why I didnt want to be in the running. "Kevin brings forth a lot of the qualities we wanted: a good communicator, has a history of building a good team environment, has international background, sincere. "Even though he hasnt coached high-level, international women, when you have two daughters and a wife, you get a good touch of what its like to work with females as well." As it would be in the NHL when theres a sudden coaching change, Dineen had the womens full attention in Tuesdays practice because he is someone they need to quickly impress. The women had spent the days since Church departure in limbo and were relieved an important question had been answered. "Everyone has different feelings probably on what happened," forward Jayna Hefford said. "Its tough to see someone go who has invested so much in the program and Dan did that. "Its been a challenging week for us. A lot of emotions and I think until this was put in place, it was hard for us to move on. Now, I think were excited. Weve got someone who has played the game at a high level and coached the game at a high level and has a passion for the game." Dineen is the son of former NHL player and coach Bill Dineen, and his brother Gord also played in the NHL. The Panthers made the playoffs in 2011-12 when Kevin Dineen made his NHL coaching debut. Florida was 3-9 when he was fired. "Theres no doubt in my mind that hes going to bring a lot of success to that team and they should do well," Panthers defenceman Erik Gudbranson said. "Its a different game. But good hockey minds figure stuff out." Wickenheiser is day-to-day with a lower body injury she suffered in the first period of last weeks game against the U.S. when she collided with a teammate. She participated in the first half of Tuesdays practice wearing a yellow no-contact jersey. Forward Marie-Philip Poulin has played in only three games since September with a high ankle sprain. She skated prior to practice, but did not join her teammates for the full session. Poulin scored both goals for Canada in a 2-0 win over the U.S. in the 2010 Olympic final. "Well have her back in the New Year," Davidson said. "Whether well have her back earlier than that only the rehab and the time she puts into us well tell us that." (SportsNetwork. Josh Allen Bills Jersey .com) - The New York Islanders will open up a five-game road trip out west on Thursday night, with the first stop coming against the Colorado Avalanche. The Islanders will be looking to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. New York received second-period goals from John Tavares and Mikhail Grabovski to tie the contest, but the Jets got the game-winner at the 3:31 mark of the third period. In the third we didnt pay the price and we werent gritty, Tavares said. We battled back, but we didnt have a great third. Brock Nelson had a goal, Johnny Boychuk notched a pair of assists and Jaroslav Halak made 26 saves. Halak made his first start in three games after allowing five goals on 23 shots in a loss to Toronto on Oct. 21. Though he took another loss, his club did him no favors when Nikolay Kulemin received a boarding major and game misconduct in the second period, with Winnipeg scoring twice on the resulting power play. The Islanders had a modest two-game winning streak halted and fell to 6-3-0 on the season. Colorado, meanwhile, has lost six of its past seven, though it has managed a point in four straight. The Avalanche are 1-0-3 over that time following a shootout loss to San Jose on Tuesday. The Avs faced 51 shots in the 3-2 loss, with Semyon Varlamov notching 49 saves to fall two short of matching current head coach Patrick Roys club record for the most saves in one game that was set on Dec. 10, 1997. Varlamov, though, was bested in the shootout by Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski, while Colorados Alex Tanguay and Matt Duchene had their tie- breaking chances denied. Tanguay had a goal in regulation to run his point streak to six straight games (4 goals, 2 assists) and Gabriel Landeskog also scored. This is very disappointing. We finally came out in the third and played our game. We have to keep playing like this from the start, noted Landeskog. The Islanders are 5-1-1 in their past seven meetings with the Avalanche, with the lone regulation setback coming in the most recent encounter on Feb. 8 of last season on Long Island. New York is 3-0-2 with a tie in its past six trips to Colorado. Tremaine Edmunds Jersey . Viewers in the Jets region can watch the game on TSN Jets at 6:30pm ct/7:30pm et. SUNRISE, Fla. -- Martin St. Louis and the Tampa Bay Lightning have remained on a roll even without star Steven Stamkos. St. Louis had a goal and two assists and the Tampa Bay Lightning extended their winning streak to five games with a 6-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday. St. Louis had an assist on Tyler Johnsons tap-in goal off a wide shot off the boards by Victor Hedman and added another on Valtteri Filppulas power-play goal less than five minutes later for a 3-1 Lightning lead. St. Louis scored his 16th goal of the season when his batted shot eluded Florida goaltender Scott Clemmensen for a 4-1 advantage after two periods. "When (Steven Stamkos) went down, we had that sense of shock, but won some games. Then reality set in. It set in when we went out West," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "Marty went into a little bit of a funk at that time when Stammer was gone. I dont think weve had a better player on our team in the last eight games than (Marty). Hes the captain and hes led the way for us. "Marty has clearly put the team on his back of late." Alex Killorn tied the game for Tampa Bay 19 seconds after Sean Bergenheim gave Florida a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal past Lightning goalie Ben Bishop. "Marty was huge. He opened up the floodgates and made some great plays and scored a pretty nice goal, too," Killorn said. "Hes obviously a leader on our team and we look to him for strong play. He came up huge in the second and everyone kind of followed his lead." The Lightning are 10-2-2 in games when St. Louis has appeared on the scoresheet since Stamkos broke his leg on Nov. 11. "I feel good out there adjusting to new linemates," said St. Louis, who is on a five-game point streak. "Its been fun. The young guys have a lot of energy. When youre winning and contributing, thats a ffun feeling. Jim Kelly Jersey. "I definitely took it as a challenge and want to deliver." In his first full season behind the Lightning bench, Cooper has watched his club jump out to a quick start and hold a strong 23-11-3 record despite having Stamkos sidelined. Cooper said the key to beating the Panthers by five goals -- they also beat them 7-2 in the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Oct. 10 -- was the quick answer after the Panthers took the early lead. "It wasnt so much the second (period), it was the answer after they scored. We had a couple of really good penalty kills and made an unfortunate error that ended up in the back of our net. A big turning point for us was scoring on the next shift," Cooper said. "We went into the room 1-1 and we came out flying. It helped to get the 5-on-3. We smelled it. The boys got after it. "Were riding some momentum going into Christmas." Florida coach Peter Horachek was disappointed in his teams effort, especially returning home after going 3-1 on a tough road swing through Canada with wins over Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. "The guys didnt really have a lot of push-back. It was probably the worst game since Ive been here for sure," the interim coach said. NOTES: Florida F Scottie Upshall (upper body) was hurt in the first period and didnt return. ... Tampa Bay D Sami Salo (upper body) left in the second period and didnt return. ... Florida G Tim Thomas remained on the injured reserve (retroactive to Dec. 12) and missed his sixth straight game after being hurt nearly two weeks ago in practice. ... With the win in the teams third meeting, Tampa Bay won the first annual Governors Cup, created during the off-season by Florida Governor Rick Scott. ... Tampa Bay and Florida are both idle through the holiday break before hosting games Saturday -- the Lightning against Montreal, the Panthers playing Detroit. Stipe Miocic became UFC heavyweight champion after knocking out Fabricio Werdum in Brazil, but what did we learn? UFC 198 results Details of wins for Miocic, Souza, Cyborg Championship merry-go-round continues Stipe Miocic is the new world champion Heavyweight title fights have become - largely due to former champion Cain Velasquezs injuries - a rare occurrence, yet even rarer is a title-holder with an iron grip on his belt. Cedric Jersey .Werdum seemed on the verge of being anointed one of the greatest heavyweight fighters, but such recognition might have to be shelved after his first title defence ended in disaster inside three minutes. Prior to Werdums forgettable reign, Velasquez had an injury-ridden spell as champion that saw him defend only twice, both times against opponents who he had already defeated. There will be pressure on Miocic to return to the cage quickly, having escaped his title win apparently unscathed. Alistair Overeem awaits as the obvious challenger who seems more than capable of continuing the merry-go-round.Dont take it on the chin Is this safety-first approach advisable for new champion Miocic (left)? When 260lbs men strap on 4oz gloves, it is advisable to keep your hands up because, worryingly, there does not seem to be a heavyweight contender capable of withstanding his rivals punches.Miocic is relatively fresh at 33 yet four years ago he was knocked out by Stefan Struve.Werdum had been stopped once before Miocic flattened him, while the next challenger Overeem has suffered three knockouts in the last three years alone. Floyd confident of McGregor fight Floyd Mayweather Jr has added to speculation of a potential fight with Conor McGregor Everyones chin, it appears, can be exposed in this division, which suggests the secret to a successful reign might be a reluctance to rely upon trading strikes.Miocic demonstrated this ability by holding Mark Hunt to the ground for much of their 23-minute fight a year ago - so is that how he should continue? What to do with Cyborg? Cris Cyborg Justino continued her winning streak Cristiane Cyborg Justino made a frightening impact on her long-awaited UFC debut, finally stepping into the big leagues after years of threatening to launch an assault on the evolving womens scene.A swift stoppage of Leslie Smith extended her run to 11 consecutive knockouts, suggesting she is a match for anyone wearing world championship gold, but questions remain about how to fit her into the puzzle.Having never made the weight limit of 135lbs for the biggest womens division, Cyborg was afforded a catchweight fight of 140lbs against Smith. She duly won against an oversized opponent who isnt even ranked in the top 15 of the 135lbs division.Having then failed to mention established contenders Ronda Rousey or Holly Holm in her post-fight speech, we are no clearer to discovering whether Cyborg merits her fearsome nickname.Has Souza pipped Bisping? Ronaldo Jacare Souza might have stolen Michael Bispings thunder Englands Michael Bisping must have been expecting the next crack at the middleweight championship having defeated the former champion, Anderson Silva, in February. But the performance of Ronaldo Jacare Souza has cast that into doubt.Souza dominated and eventually finished another former title-holder, Vitor Belfort, inside the first round while Bisping was taken the distance by Silva. In the UFCs official rankings at 185lbs, Bisping is No 4 behind both Souza and Belfort. To complicate matters, current champion Luke Rockhold already holds win over his two most obvious challengers. All eyes will turn to Rockholds next title defence against Chris Weidman next month, before Bisping learns his fate.Legends battle on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira won for the first time in three years Werdum and Belfort may have been comprehensively beaten by younger, fresher contenders, but, aged 38 and 39 respectively, they remain viable fighters. And they are not alone, with a host of Brazilian veterans refusing to quietly step out of the spotlight.Mauricio Shogun Rua, a 34-fight veteran and ex-champion, beat 26-year-old up-and-comer Corey Anderson. Demian Maia, at 38, has scarcely looked better than his submission win over Matt Brown. PITTSBURGH, Pa. Jonas Hector Jersey . - The Pittsburgh Steelers addressed some of their depth issues along the defensive line, signing Cam Thomas to a two-year deal. The 27-year-old Thomas started a career-high 10 games for San Diego in 2013, finishing with 30 tackles and an interception. The 6-foot-3, 330-pound Thomas gives the Steelers some much-needed depth after backup nose tackle Al Woods and defensive lineman Ziggy Hood left via free agency earlier in the week. Thomas will compete with incumbent Steve McLendon for playing time. Thomas was a 2010 fifth-round pick out of North Carolina who worked his way into a starting job for the Chargers. Pittsburgh still needs help at defensive end, where Cam Heyward is the only lineman on the roster with extensive playing experience. Antonio Rudiger Germany Jersey . The Big Man finished 3-1 in Week 19, and sits at 53-24 on the season. Now Schultz is ready for more action. Matthias Ginter Jersey . 1 goaltender tonight when they conclude a four-game road trip versus the Winnipeg Jets.TSN football analyst Chris Schultz breaks down all the teams and each division in the NFL leading up to the regular season. First, the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and New York Jets in the AFC East. Buffalo Bills The most immediate question for the Buffalo Bills is how do you go from a 6-10 record to 10-6 and how do you become a playoff team? For 14 years the Bills have not been a playoff team, and thats significant because no other team in the NFL has had an absence longer than the Bills. The most obvious statement is the most relevant in that the quickest success will depend on how quickly E.J. Manuel improves as a quarterback. Right now he is good but he has to become great as soon as possible. The organization has taken risks, understanding that the time is now for Manuel by obtaining Sammy Watkins at a high price and dismissing Stevie Johnson at a low price for locker room harmony. Every indication from everyone is that Watkins is the "real deal" in every way which more than any other aspect of football enhances the hope of continued fast track development of Manuel. Defensively another experiment to watch is the switch from Mike Pettine to Jim Schwartz at coordinator means a change from 3/4 to 4/3. I dont think this will be a long stretch to master over time because in many ways the Bills presently have more in the way of quality defensive linemen than quality and quantity of exceptional linebackers. In another statement of true reality you cant overstate that the injury to Kiko Alonso is devastating. Alonso was on his way and may be back on his way in 2015 but without him as a middle linebacker a void is evident. Alonso to me was the next London Fletcher for Washington or back a few more years, Zach Thomas for Miami. Will the Bills make the playoffs? I dont think so but head coach Doug Marrone quietly did a very good job in the AFC East and last year lost two games by three points or less and we all remember the Chiefs game, 23-13, with the points separation coming on an interception for a touchdown. I have the Buffalo Bills to finish second in the AFC East. Miami Dolphins Last year may have been the most difficult year in the history of the Miami Dolphins. The eight-win and eight-loss season with two disastrous losses at Buffalo and home to the Jets to end the season made a possible 10-6 campaign only 8-8. From realistic playoff hopes to average was disappointing but nothing compared to the teams internal breakdown of class and dignity. How the team reacts this year will be interesting to see but you have to think it will be positive. Players will be more comfortable in the high testosterone world of an NFL locker room and by being comfortable will be able to concentrate at a higher level. What happened in Miami was an embarrassment to football and especially football players. Many looked at NFL players as walking neanderthals of limited intelligence thanks to the actions of a very few. It wont be an issue this year as the rules are crystal clear and those who dont abide dont get paid. On the field Ryan Tannehill has to have his best season as a pro. Problem is its a new high-tempo offence with Bill Lazor as coordinator taking over from Mike Sherman who I imagine Tannehill was very comfortable with. Miamis running game has not been dominant in many years but with the addition of Knowshon Moreno that may change. What has to change is Mike Wallace and his role. What was hoped for was for Wallace to be a smaller version of Randy Moss and that may still come to fruition. Last year for whatever the reason you cant say Mike Wallace changed games. I think Miami has very good line of scrimmage players. The offensive line will have four new starters with only Mike Pouncy returning at centre and the defensive front-seven is good. The key is Dion Jordan out of Oregon. A first-round pick in 2013, he needs to take that giant step forward and become the next Jason Taylor. The physical skills are similar but Jordan has to commit to football on and off the field. If Dion Jordan and Cameron Wake play their best, the Dolphins third-down pass rush could be exceptional. This is a big year for Joe Philbin as a head coach. Some were complimentary about how he handled all the issues the Dolphins had to handle. He handled things after they happened, but they still should never have happened. Miami football is improving but I dont see a giant move forward. Opening day on Sept. 7 will say a lot. New England at Miami is a 1pm game so heat will be a Dolphin advantage. Can they make the most of it? Ive got Miami to finish third in the AFC East. New England Patriots The New England Patriots are a pretty amazing foootball organization. Marco Reus Jersey. Have they made some mistakes? Absolutely. Incorrectly evaluating Aaron Hernandez and not being able to draft successful defensive backs come to mind but you can make the argument theyre very resilient and adaptable. In what is an amazing football fact, the Patriots had 10 games last year that were decided in the final 40 seconds of play, eight of which were decided in the final 16 seconds. This is a battle tested team. And a heathier team. The two best players on New Englands defence were Vince Wilfork and Jerod Mayo. Mayo missed the final 12 games and Wilfork the final 14. Those were major losses in leadership and ability. Still, it did create significant playing time for Jamie Collins as a rookie. He is one of the stars of the future; athletically there are few if any his superior at linebacker. With Darrelle Revis and eventually Brandon Browner at cornerback, and Tommy Kelly at defensive tackle, as long as a health catastrophe does not happen, New England could have the best defensive football team theyve had in many years. And speaking of health, Rob Gronkowski has had his share of adversity. A back injury, an arm twice, and a knee; his body is his greatest combatant. When it comes to playing the game, it flows easy for him and he makes it look easy. If he stays healthy, everything changes for Tom Brady to the positive. Another point of optimism is the three young receivers from last year: Josh Boyce, Aaron Dobson, and Kembrell Thompkins. All three being in their second year as pro football players makes a world of difference in playbook mastery and performing over a 16-game schedule. I would not be surprised at all if what was a weakness last year is a strength this year, particularly in terms of depth. This is an amazing pro football success story in New England; it is all business all the time with high pressure. And if you cant thrive in that atmosphere, then you cant play for the Patriots. At quarterback, Brady will be 37 when they play the Dolphins on September 7th: older, wiser, and maybe even better. They did draft Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round out of Eastern Illinois but the best up and coming quarterback on the roster is Ryan Mallett: 66 and 245 pounds with a Joe Flacco arm. What happens with Ryan Mallett as he edges to free agency will be interesting. Patriots win the AFC East…again. New York Jets I dont know why but I dont believe in the Jets. Maybe its Rex Ryans excessively optimistic outlook or the inability to create a starter in Mark Sanchez last year, but I dont believe in the Jets. The bottom line is Geno Smith will have to have a year in which rather than throwing 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions he throws 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Logic says thats not going to happen and I like logic. The strengths of the Jets will be depth at running back and a very good defensive live. Their weakness is easy to identify. Their pass offence was 31st last year and their pass defense was 22nd. I dont know of many playoff teams that dont have a pass offence ranked 15th or higher, and to improve 17 levels would be amazing in one year. The signing of Chris Johnson is interesting. He is a "home run" hitter at 29-years-old that has carried the ball 1,742 times in his career. He is good but need to be great. His personal explosiveness in combination with the power of Chris Ivory does make an interesting backfield battle for playing time. Another challenge that has nothing to do with players is the schedule. After they play the Raiders at home they playAaron Rodgers and the Packers in Green Bay, Jay Cutler and the Bears on Monday night, Mathew Stafford and the Lions, at San Diego against Philip Rivers and the Chargers, then Peyton Manning and the Broncos followed four days later by Tom Brady and the Patriots in New England. From Manning on a Sunday to Brady on a Thursday; Calvin Pryor and Dee Milliner will be tested at safety and cornerback. After that set of six games against arguably six of the best quarterbacks, if the Jets have a winning record I will be surprised. I think for the Jets to win they have to go back to their 2009 and 2010 teams which were run first, everything else second. It did provide them with 2 AFC Championship experiences and oh so close to a Super Bowl experience. Not sure if offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg agrees. The division is getting tougher too. Buffalo is in the second year with EJ Manuel at the helm, while Miami eliminated their internal immaturity. And then of course theres New England. I now know why I dont believe in the Jets. Fourth in the AFC East. Discount NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys China Stitched Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Throwback Wholesale NFL Hoodies Wholesale Throwback Jerseys Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys ' ' '

VANCOUVER - Dave Dickenson is thankful the Canadian Football Hall of Fame considers quality over quantity. Mousa Dembele Jersey .Dickenson was among seven individuals named for induction in Canadas football shrine Friday night. Joining Dickenson in the players category are Leroy Blugh, Eddie Davis and Gene Makowsky while Montreal Alouettes owner Bob Wetenhall, former CFL player, coach and GM Bob OBillovich and longtime amateur football coach and administrator Larry Reda will go as builders.Dickenson, 41, spent 10 seasons as a quarterback with the Calgary Stampeders and B.C. Lions. In 143 career games, the native of Great Falls, Mont., completed 67.5 per cent of his passes for 22,913 yards with 154 TDs and 50 interceptions.Dickenson is the second-most accurate passer in CFL history behind Ricky Ray of the Toronto Argonauts (67.6 per cent).Dickenson was the CFLs outstanding player in 2000 and won two Grey Cups, earning game MVP honours in 06 with B.C. Dickenson was hampered by injuries throughout his career, something hes glad voters didnt hold against him.Im very appreciative, Dickenson said. More than anything I was just happy the voters decided to vote on quality over quantity.Theres certainly an argument out there both ways but I felt when I did play I was with the best in the game. The date and location of the 15 induction ceremony wasnt immediately available. The new inductees will boost the Hall of Fames membership to 278.Dickenson, currently Calgarys offensive co-ordinator, is preparing to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Grey Cup game Sunday at B.C. Place Stadium. While the timing of his induction isnt exactly ideal, it doesnt diminish the significance of the honour in Dickensons mind. Its important to me, he said. Every one of us wants to leave a mark, or at least I do.You want to do good things not only for yourself but you want to make sure youre remembered in a positive way. The validation of a Hall of Fame (nomination) is people respected what you did and respected how you played and obviously you played well enough to get into that super elite club. Im very happy about it, they cant take it away from me. I know a lot of the history and believe in this type of stuff. Ive been to the Hall of Fame in Hamilton multiple times. To me, its a pretty big accomplishment. When players go into baseballs Hall of Fame, they must choose which teams cap theyll wear during their induction ceremony. Dickenson is thankful he wont have to decide between a Stampeders or Lions hat when he goes into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.I had some great years in Calgary and to me a lot of great years in Vancouver, he said. It wouldve been an interesting deal if you had to put a hat on.Dickenson is especially happy to be in the same induction class as OBillovich, a fellow Montana native.I think it was time to put him in as well, Dickenson said. He was a good player, coach, general manager . . . he pretty much did it all.OBillovichs CFL career spanned five decades as a player, coach and general manager. The 74-year-old native of Butte, Mont., played five seasons as a defensive back and quarterback with the Ottawa Rough Riders from 63 to 67 before serving as an assistant coach with the squad from 76 to 81.He became the Toronto Argonauts head coach in 82 and spent eight seasons there, winning his only Grey Cup in 83. He also served as the B.C. Lions head coach/GM (90-92), returned to the Argos as head coach/GM (93-95) and also served as Hamiltons GM (08-12) before retiring.Blugh, 48, played 15 seasons in the CFL as a defensive lineman with Edmonton and Toronto. He won a Grey Cup with the Eskimos in 93 and was named the leagues top Canadian in 1996. After his playing career was over, Blugh served as the head coach at Bishops, his alma mater, from 05-10 and two seasons as an assistant at Queens. Last year he was the defensive line coach for the Ottawa Redblacks.Davis, 41, played defensive back for 15 seasons with Birmingham, Calgary and Saskatchewan. His best season was 98 when he had 77 tackles, three sacks and four interceptions for the Stampeders. A two-time Grey Cup champion, Davis was also named a CFL all-star on four occasions before retiring prior to the 2010 season.Makowsky, 41, a native of Saskatoon, spent his entire 17-year career with Saskatchewan. I think just all around. Just going back to defence, I just like getting out of my bed and just going to work. It’s something that I enjoy and just kept going with it.The Jets (25-14-8) are on a four-game win streak as they get set to host Columbus (20-21-3) on Wednesday for their last game before the all-star break. They hold the first wild-card spot in the Western Conference, five points ahead of Calgary. The 29-year-old Byfuglien said there’s absolutely no doubt he’s playing better defence than in the past.Former Jets head coach Claude Noel had moved Byfuglien to forward in early January 2014. When Noel was fired a few days later and replaced by Maurice, the new coach kept him in that spot.Byfuglien noted the Jets have been playing different systems with Maurice and that’s had an impact on everyone. As a team we’ve changed our game so much, he said. The way we play, and the way we played back then, it’s way different. We feed off each other and you can make plays. And the six-foot-five, 260-pound Byfuglien has been making plays and putting up points. In 47 games, he has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points. But 20 of those points have come in the 21 games he’s played defence since Dec. 5.He’s unlike anyone, Jets forward Blake Wheeler said of Byfuglien. He’s special in a lot of ways. That includes Byfuglien’s physical presence, but also his instincts on the ice and the way he reads plays and intercepts pucks, Wheeler explained. He’s been dominant since he’s been back on (defence) especially, and he’s been a huge reason for our success.Byfuglien hasn’t really changed this seaason, but he may be feeling better about the way his game is viewed, Wheeler said. Belgium Blank Jersey. I think he’s just comfortable now and I think he feels appreciated, he said. I think he felt under-appreciated before, you know, with a lot of the things he does and the things he tries to do.It can be frustrating as a player to come to work everyday and, kind of, it’s almost like a puppy. You hit him on the head and he keeps coming back for love, and if you don’t get it, it can sometimes wear on you a little bit.I think this year he feels appreciated, he feels like what he does is impactful on what we’re trying to do as a team.Byfuglien said he’s been following what Maurice has told him to do since he switched back to defence.Little things. Doing what I do and not get out of the game plan, Byfuglien said. Just stick with it and everything will just come. The player fans love to call Big Buff has also turned up his physical game.Rookie defenceman Ben Chiarot has been paired with Byfuglien and said the veteran is helping him make the transition. His friends and family ask him what Byfuglien is like and he tells them he’s a fun guy who likes to joke around on and off the ice.He also enjoys watching Byfuglien’s physical game. He’s so strong and so much bigger than everyone else, he just manhandles guys out there, Chiarot said. It’s like he’s playing with kids sometimes, so that’s fun to watch and it’s been impressive to see.Maurice said it might not be fair to say Byfuglien is exceeding his expectations on the blue-line.There’s never been a doubt that he’s a special player, he said. He can really do whatever he sets his mind to do.What the future holds for Byfuglien really depends on how having all the defencemen healthy will affect the minutes played, he said. The Blue Jackets contest may feature the return of defenceman Jacob Trouba, who’s missed 16 games with an upper-body injury. Trouba practised Tuesday and is awaiting medical clearance. He’s the last of four key defencemen to return after the rash of injuries.I’m in no hurry to get him out of there by any means, Maurice said. He’s a defenceman right now and he’s one of the best in the league right now so there’s no need to change that.Note: The Jets and CFLs Blue Bombers announced Tuesday that they were unable to finalize a date to host the Heritage Classic outdoor game at Investors Group Field next season and are very hopeful that a date can be secured early in the 2016-17 season.
