Enemies and bosses alike get new character versions. We even get to see glimpses of Andariel and Mephisto. The character creation screen appears to be quite near the original. However, there's not any telling just which of these elements will allow it to Diablo 2 Resurrected's final version.

"This isn't a remake," states Rod Fergusson, who's been in charge of things Diablo in Blizzard since early 2020. He is referring to Diablo 2: Resurrected, a brand new remaster declared at BlizzCon. It has been rumored for years, and here it is at last, coming out on PC and consoles later in 2021. You will find spiffy new 3D graphics and some modern conveniences in Resurrected, but expect it to feel much as the Diablo 2 released in 2000--because it pretty much is.
"We are not attempting to reverse-engineer the game and build it from scratch to seem like D2," Fergusson says. "This is D2. This is precisely the identical core gameplay, the same story and tone, even the very same voices of the same actors."
